Inside the First GolfPod Installations

Golf is changing shape. Not just in how it’s played—but where, and how easily it can be accessed. The rise of compact, tech-enabled formats is opening the game to new audiences, new environments, and new business models.

That’s where GolfPod comes in. Following our earlier partnership announcement, we’re now seeing that vision take shape—with the first two installations successfully delivered and operational in the UK.

And importantly, they’re already proving a point: golf doesn’t need acres to perform.

What is GolfPod (and why it matters)

GolfPod is a space-efficient driving range concept designed to take golf into environments where traditional ranges simply didn’t fit. Think leisure centres. Urban developments. Multi-sport venues.

Places where:

  • Space is limited
  • Staffing is low
  • Experience is expected

Behind every modern site, is an ecosystem powering it:

Range Servant delivers ball management
Toptracer brings data-driven practice
Sweetspot power Range Servant Pay
Echo Robotics supply automated ball picking

Each layer plays its own role, but it’s the way they work in sync that defines the experience, Booking, play, ball flow and recovery all move as one continuous loop, removing friction for both player and operator.

For the player, its instant and uninterrupted. For the operator it’s controlled, predictable and efficient. No gaps or manual workarounds. Just a system that keeps the range moving quietly, consistently and at scale.

The machines behind the scenes

At the centre of each installation is a fully integrated ball management system working in the background.

At GolfPod Cranham, the loop is simple and effective. Balls are collected by the robotic picker, released into the Ditch, moved to the Washer, and lifted by an Elevator back to the dispenser. A closed system that keeps the range stocked with minimal intervention from staff.

Ball Dispenser Cranham

GolfPod Basildon is essentially a copy and paste of the same operational model, with one key shift. Instead of traditional dispensing, balls are delivered in-bay via the Tee Box. Players book through the Sweetspot app and scan the QR code on the Toptracer screen. The Tee Box activates instantly and releases balls for the duration of the session. From there, balls are collected, released, washed and stored until the Tee boxes need refilling. A system that keeps each bay running like a self-contained range.

The Bigger Picture

These first installations signals that:

  • Golf can successfully integrate into multi-use leisure environments
  • Automation can remove traditional operational barriers
  • Smaller sites can still deliver a high-quality range experience

And perhaps most importantly: access to golf is no longer limited by land availability, and with additional sites already forecast, this is only the beginning.
