Dear Industry Colleague,

Our featured course this month is Trevose Golf & Country Club. Trevose is a cracker in every sense of the word. As it celebrates its Centenary, it was a delight to visit such a beautiful location which has adapted well to the 21st century. The club has a championship course, a less formal and easier nine hole course and a shorter par three course, along with a golf range and several short game areas. This is just the type of facility that is perfect to develop the game and also have the very best golfers celebrate its history. Nick Gammon and his team must be congratulated on developing such an exceptional and exclusive facility. It’s well worth an annual visit.

Next week the Ryder Cup starts. I for one will be watching every shot and it promises to be a marvellous event. Let’s just hope that the New York crowds applaud all good shots and are not too partisan to spoil the fun.

This is the first year that the American team is being paid to play in the event – $500,000 each, with $300,000 going to a charity of their choice and $200,000 to line their pockets. With the price of tickets exceeding $500 for even the most basic access, I’m sure the European fans will remind their American friends that the price of tickets could be so much less if the multimillionaire players in the American team were not paid for something which the rest of us regard as the supreme honour in golf.
