In an attempt to convert its growing base of international visitors to golf Cape Cornwall Club has launched an innovative membership aimed at casual golfers who’d like to either gain or regain an official handicap they can take home from their Cornish Golf Holiday.
2025 saw another rise in the number of international guests at Cape Cornwall with a notable increase this year in guests from North America and Australia on top of continuing strong numbers from Europe. Most however are still attracted by walking the SW Path, cycling towards John o’ Groats or TV Tourists who are fans of the Poldark and Rosamund Pilcher shows filmed along our stretch of coastline. Many didn’t even realise we had a golf course and have rebooked for 2026 with the promise to bring their clubs!

Another interesting development is that overseas golf groups have started booking in Cornwall as an alternative UK golf destination to Scotland, who saw their first £1,000 green fee recently. Cornwall offers some of the most affordable golf prices around and of course is already a popular holiday destination. The Cornwall Golf Union has been meeting international golf tourist delegations this year and we are now a part of that conversation, having recently met the new Head of the CGU and pledged our support for the new refreshing “unification” exercise which supports a number of values we have been shouting about ever since we’ve been here.
We also know our place. We’re only 35 years young, punch well above our weight in County Competitions, yet are considered upstarts and not taken seriously by traditional types. To that end we are focusing on those wanting to have fun, relax, improve and have a great value-for-money experience.

As an incentive to those guests, we’re introducing a new type of golf membership which we’ve not seen anywhere else but which takes advantage of the unique Cape Cornwall Club characteristics:
• We have plenty of tee time availability and most days are a quiet unintimidating place to learn and improve.
• 23 en suite rooms and our great food and resort facilities make us an ideal place for a break.
• Our small informal membership will always make you feel welcome and someone is always happy to accompany you.
• Even if you hit a bad shot, you’ll be doing it on one of the most stunning backdrops on the Cornish Coast.
Many of our developments are testament to the fact that Cape Cornwall Club has been transformed by current owners Andy and Leanne Cleary and in their quest to fulfil its potential they’re now looking for a new owner or partner to take advantage of the various planning opportunities to upgrade the scope and size of the resort along with the quality of its golf course. These include approved plans to increase the number of bedroom blocks, extend the main building and build a manager’s bungalow plus course plans at pre-app stage to redesign the course in a biodiversity positive scheme they have created with Weller Design.
The Clearys are settled locally and wish to retire, remain members and be involved in the future plans if required.
