He first started using the software in 1996 at West Malling Golf Club, working with Duncan Lambert, where he was responsible for the smooth running of the golf retail.
He has also managed The Ridge for the American Golf Corporation (later to become Crown Golf) and later, within the same group, Stapleford Abbotts and again using ESP technology. The ‘Resort Master’ software was a great help to running the business smoothly and was used by all the 28 courses in the group.
More recently at Chart Hills, where he has been Director of Golf for over eleven years, he is still using the technology.
So what is it about ESP that James finds so user-friendly? James responds:

I can check green fees, memberships, food and drink sales and the performance of all departments is within easy reach of my fingertips. “At Chart Hills, every account can be accessed from any terminal, so a master account for a wedding party can easily have golf and buggy hire added to the main invoice, so that the customer can just enjoy our facilities, whilst ESP’s system allows us to keep an itemised account of what they have spent at what time and where. Best of all, it is an easy to use, instinctive system, which new staff can understand quickly. The best things are always simple.”
