Basset Down Golf Club Makes the Switch to Robotic Maintenance

Basset Down Golf Course & Driving Range is situated between Royal Wootton Bassett and Wroughton. They currently have an extensive 9 hole course, with work started on an extension to 18 holes.

Basset Down also has a 20 bay, undercover and floodlit driving range, complete with Toptracer range technology, automated tees and heated bays for the cold weather. This, coupled with the experience of two full time teaching PGA professionals, a super practice area and a pro shop, makes for a brilliant golfing experience.

Basset Down underwent a full range installation consisting of:

Mows 24,000 m2 3-5 times per week, produces 10 x less CO₂ emissions and uses 8 x lower energy costs when compared to petrol powered ride on mowers. Creates no noise pollution, is 100% ecological and provides impeccable turf in better condition. Comes with an online app, location tracking and a GPS guidance system.

Collects all day and night, does not obstruct players, offers a constant ball supply, is lightweight and not damaging to the turf. It comes with an online app and tracking, when its collection tank is full it drops the balls into the wash and return system then heads back out to collect.

The fully automated ball wash and transport system collects from the Ball Picker robot. Developed by AMS Robotics, it automatically washes and returns the balls to the dispenser.

“Both ourselves and Basset Down are excited to see how the system helps the club and AMS plan to be with them every step of the way. Interest in commercial robotic maintenance is growing year on year and we look forward to its development,” said Philip Sear, CEO AMS Robotics.
